Colin Wu The Tale of a Story Night  Chapter1  DISTANT THUNDER For Piano   Duration: about four minutes Program Notes The Opening theme of this piece was srcinally composed for harp and intended for aharpist to play. She was playing harp on a livestream on Saturday afternoon, and afterlistening to her beautiful performance, I was inspired to write two harp pieces, one of themremained a harp piece, and one was changed to a pianopiece and named Distant Thunder.I tried to capture the moments before a heavy rain: the dark clouds move slowly butcontinuously above the land, with soft, occasional thunder heard from within; then raindropsstart to trickle down from the sky while the sound of thunder becomes clearer and clearer, louder and louder; finally, rain pours down from the sky, accompanied by thunder at itsmightiest, announcing the start of a downpour.   ?44 Piano .. ˙ .. ˙ q = 60 P  Resonant and Heavy œœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœœ‰ J œœœœ . ˙˙˙œ F ?
